Welcome to Seeking Sunrise Therapy & Counselling

📅 Availability

I work Mon-Thurs. If you prefer an in-person session without Parker, please book on Wednesdays, as those are typically his rest days.

🎄Holiday Hours: I will be away from Dec 22–28, and in-person sessions will not be available during this time. Virtual appointments & phone consults will still be offered, with Tuesday and Wednesday (Xmas Eve) availability.

Fee Update Notice – Effective January 1, 2026

My current rates are based on the 2024 BCACC Recommended Fee Guide. As we move into 2026, I will be updating my fees to reflect current professional standards and to support the long-term sustainability of my practice. Beginning January 1st, 2026, my rates will be:

  • $160 for a 50-minute session

  • $240 for an 75-minute extended session

  • $285 for a 2-hour kayak therapy session (includes a $45 equipment rental fee)

To support a smooth transition, all current clients— including anyone who books a session before January 1, 2026 — will remain at their current rate for an additional three months, until April 1st, 2026.

Cancellation Policy

As your therapist, I reserve this time specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, will be subject to the full session fee.

Step 1: Consultation
Start with a free 20 minute phone consultation. This is an informal space for us to meet, talk about what brings you here, and explore whether my approach feels like a good fit for your needs. You can also ask any questions you may have about counselling.

Step 2: Intake Session
If you decide to move forward after your consultation, the next step is to book a full intake session. This first counselling session can be held online or in person (in office).

If you would like another day without Parker, please contact me directly and I will do my best to book you in without him. On all other days, Parker will be present.

If you prefer movement or the outdoors, we can do a walk and talk along the beach or sit by the shoreline. Please note that this beach area has a bit more foot traffic than some of my other locations. You are always welcome to decide at the time of your appointment whether you would like to stay in the cozy office or move outdoors.

Parker, my therapy dog, may still pop in to say a quick hello during our time together, but if you would prefer a dog-free session, just let me know.

Being in nature can help create a sense of ease, support emotional regulation, and open space for reflection and movement.

These sessions are a wonderful option if you feel more grounded outdoors, are drawn to movement while processing, or would simply like to try something different from a traditional office environment. Parker, my therapy dog, often joins walk and talk sessions and can bring a comforting presence as we move together through nature.

Extended Sessions

Hi, I’m Sonia (she/her). I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) who works with youth (14+) and adults. My approach is relational, warm, and grounded in both lived experience and professional training.

Alongside traditional counselling, I offer walk-and-talk sessions in nature and therapy sessions by kayak. Many clients find that being outdoors, whether on the water, in the forest, or along a quiet path, helps them feel more grounded, calm, and open. Nature provides a supportive space for healing, regulation, and connection.

My therapy dog Parker often joins us in this work. He is a trained therapy dog who brings steady, calming support with a touch of goofiness.

Wherever we meet, whether indoors, outdoors, or on the water, I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are and know you will be met with compassion, care, and respect.
